Baba Brinkman: The Rap Guide to Climate Chaos.

April 14, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm

The Salt Spring Community Energy Group, Transition Salt Spring and the Salt Spring Forum are excited to host an unusual and inspiring Social, Fundraiser and Multimedia Event – Baba Brinkman’s “Rap Guide To Climate Chaos”.

Baba Brinkman is the world’s only “peer reviewed science rap artist”. Through poignant visuals, brilliant and sometimes hilarious rhymes, music and spoken-word poetry Brinkman leads a smart, funny and compelling mashup of climate change research, pop culture and call-to-arms. Called “an artist at the top of his game”, Brinkman has wowed crowds from New York City to Edinburgh. His performance at the 2015 Paris Climate Conference was widely acknowledged as a milestone in science communications. His shows appeal to a wide spectrum of audiences and have been described as “raucous lit-hop entertainment, for those who may not like rap”.

The event starts at 6:30 with a social in the ArtSpring Lobby including refreshments (wine, beer, appies), silent auction with art items and services, and other fundraising wonders. This is a terrific opportunity to support our best, first-line defense against the Kinder Morgan Pipeline and Tankers Projects. All money raised will go to the Pull-Together Campaign, a RavenTrust initiative to help finance First Nations legal challenges to the KM Pipeline/Tankers Projects. The Pull-Together Campaign against the Enbridge Pipeline was wonderfully successful and now it’s time to turn this grass-roots movement toward saving the Salish Sea.
